Last year, Rick Ross’ popularity spiked to unprecedented heights. As Rick Ross’ popularity grew, so did reflections on his career. Pencil Rick Ross in for being on the hottest song of every summer, but don’t expect to see any of his albums with a platinum certification.

When fans began reading about Rick Ross’ rather low record sales, there were plenty of statuses about this. What is overlooked is how Rick Ross’ emergence coincides with the overtaking of the digital era into hip hop. Fact of the matter is people download records, they don’t buy them.

Maybach Music’s Self Made 3 is the latest victim, as the album that consists of Rick Ross, Wale, Meek Mill, DJ Scream, Stalley, Gunplay, Torch, Young Breed, and French Montana, is projected to sell low. In its first week, the sales are projected to be 50,000 copies. A lot of albums have sold this in their first week.
