DJ Khaled honored with gold plaque for “No New Friends” [PHOTO]

DJ Khaled 3Every summer, DJ Khaled aligns with all the biggest rappers in the game for a major single. The single is used to propel his album, which drops yearly and DJ Khaled started it all off this year with “No New Friends.” As he did in 2011 with “I’m On One,” the Miami DJ united Drake, Rick Ross, and Lil Wayne, but for “No New Friends.”

The reaction to “No New Friends” was not quite what DJ Khaled expected. Even though the song is a sequel, of sorts, to “Started from the Bottom,” it was not met with the warmest of reactions. Charlamagne Tha God clowned the song to no end during an interview earlier this summer.

For his trouble, DJ Khaled was awarded by the RIAA when they certified his single gold. Even with the criticism, the song was a hit, just not as big as DJ Khaled has gotten used to. DJ Khaled, however, still managed to go gold and he received his plaque earlier today.
