Doing a million things at once can lead to things getting behind, so consider this to be the late edition of the Wednesday Throwback. Even though this series was created to be a “blast from the past” type thing, it’s a personal thing to want to keep it relevant to the present. Camp Lo is fresh off their mixtape release with Pete Rock.
80 Blocks From Tiffany’s, Pt. II is out now and hopefully Preemo will cover it on his new series, “HHV Mixtape Recap.” Anyway, it brings it back to perspective just how dope Camp Lo is and how much history they have in the game. This segment was created for the classic artists who they don’t talk about, so here it is.
Back in 1997, Camp Lo dropped their debut album, Uptown Saturday Night. The lead single off the album was “Luchini (AKA This Is It)” and it hit early in 1997. Years later, the song, which sampled Dynasty’s “Adventures in the Land of Music,” is regarded as a hip hop classic.
