The Gifted is a smash hit, Wale is back on top of the game and it is like he never left. Wale got off to a strong star with the “Bad” single that is still tearing up the radio. But, Wale also has the “Love/Hate Thing” single doing well that features Sam Dew, which was released to coincide with the release date.
A lot of people wanted Wale to push his album up to compete with his Roc Nation family members, J. Cole and Kanye West. Peer pressure is something Wale has never gone for, so he decided to stick with his original release date. No one but him was in the June 25 release date, so Wale won big time.
Hip hop has become a numbers game, some people like it, some people don’t. Wale has to be cool with it, since his numbers came in strong for him. Advancing the expectations of his sales, Wale came in strong with 150,000 copies sold in his first week, enough for him to debut at number one on Billboard Hot 100.
