Though it has only been a few days since Emilio Rojas released No Shame, No Regrets, it feels like it has been months. A lot of albums have come out over the past two weeks and among them was this independent release from Emilio Rojas. No Shame, No Regrets is the name of the album and it came out last week.

Out the gate, Emilio Rojas goes off on the intro, rapping about his label situations and everything else possible. Interestingly enough, Emilio Rojas revealed he was working with Chris Lighty and were supposed to meet up the day he died. With such songs on the album as “Shameless,” the No Shame, No Regrets theme was maintained.

While the album is full of entertaining songs, such as “Low,” Emilio Rojas does little to separate himself from the other rappers in the game. Despite beats that do not fit, it is the lyrics that save Emilio Rojas every time. Emilio Rojas takes such instrumentals as “Low,” he still manages to touch on some deeper topics while “she is getting low.”

Although No Shame, No Regrets came out before Born Sinner, Emilio Rojas sounds a bit like J. Cole on this album. But, he still rocks every track on the album and holds his own on the tracks he shares, most-notably with “Lean on Em,” featuring Styles P, Troy Ave, and Iamsu! Emilio Rojas put together an album that probably would have received more attention and more acclaim had he not released it in the midst of so much great music, which is what he is automatically compared to.

Facing off against major artists automatically led to Emilio Rojas being overlooked as it is. Then, those who decided to give a listen to his No Shame, No Regrets album only get a “good” album that is not even on par with some of the independent releases that have come out over the past couple weeks. Emilio Rojas is undoubtedly a good artist and all he really needs is a bigger platform, but he comes up short when compared to the others, with No Shame, No Regrets.
