Before his mainstream success, Kid Ink already had a strong following. Much like many others, Kid Ink is from Los Angeles and had mixtape success. Kid Ink released his street album, Up & Away, last summer. The album received a lot of strong feedback and it helped Kid Ink gain major label attention.

Kid Ink made the first headlines of 2013 when he was announced as the latest artist to sign to RCA Records. Before jumping into his debut album, Kid Ink teased fans with his new EP. A few weeks ago, Kid Ink made his major label debut with his Almost Home project, including the “Bad Ass” single featuring Wale and Meek Mill.

Recently, Kid Ink talked to Muve Music about “Bad Ass” and his new label situation. He explained how he linked up with DJ Ill Will and how Tha Alumni was formed out of these initial meetings. Kid Ink also explained the business relationship he and Meek Mill had and then how Wale entered the mix.
