Def Jam has had many highs and many lows. Right now, the label is in transition with yet another change at the top of the label. The new man in charge at Def Jam is Shawn “Pecas” Costner, who has been named as the executive vice president of the label. But, as far as a new president, there is no actual president of the label.
Long before landing this new role at Def Jam, Shawn “Pecas” Costner worked with other major record labels. A notable place where Shawn Costner previously worked was over at Arista Records, the original home of Bad Boy Records. Growing up in The Bronx, he had a natural love for hip hop.
Shawn “Pecas” Costner recently sat down with Life + Times with Shaheem Reid. He spoke with “The Round Up” about his history in the game. During the interview, Costner spoke about his time with Gee Street Records and Arista Records, along with Def Jam, the game going digital, and Kanye West’s promotion.
