Late last year, Trinidad James became the biggest breakout artist of the year. While he receives a lot of negative feedback over the quality of his music, Trinidad James did what few rappers have ever done. No new artist has ever emerged as late in the year as Trinidad James did and became the biggest breakout star of the year.

Momentum clearly was on the side of Trinidad James coming into 2013. With his buzz high, record labels began courting to him. Fielding offers, Trinidad James signed with Def Jam and Don’t Be S.A.F.E. was re-released. Some people still do not like him, but “Females Welcomed” helped propel Trinidad James out of one hit wonder status.

Trinidad James recently was in New York City and he was accompanied by Life + Times over to Queens. Speaking with them for their “Genesis” series, Trinidad James spoke on his stage name, coming to America, and his lifestyle in Trinidad. This conversation took place at Anil’s Roti Shop in Richmond Hill, Queens.
