“Going from one hundred dollars a month to a hundred mil’ in a day,” Dr. Dre rapped on the good kid, m.A.A.d. city debut from Kendrick Lamar. While Dr. Dre, of course, is not making $100 million in a day, he is far from broke. If anything, Dr. Dre and his net worth are clearly rising.

Dr. Dre owes a good portion of his success to Jimmy Iovine. When Death Row Records was established, they secured a distribution deal with Interscope Records. Jimmy Iovine was the founder of Interscope Records, which itself, was distributed by Atlantic Records.

Twenty-one years later, Dr. Dre is still in business with Jimmy Iovine. The two share a bond that goes much deeper than music, as they are partners in Beats by Dre. Now, they have put up $70 million to launch the Andre Young Academy for Arts, Technology and the Business of Innovation.

This new program is set to launch in the fall of 2014. USC president, C.L. Max Nikias, released a statement about this new program.

Read C.L. Max Nikias’ statement below:

“The vision and generosity of Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young will profoundly influence the way all of us perceive and experience artistic media. Our goal is to ensure that the academy is the most collaborative educational program in the world.”
