Don’t call Jay-Z a rapper. Yes, he does rap and he has released rap albums, but his connections go much deeper. Instead of a rapper, Jay-Z is a businessman and he works with all of the biggest figures in business. Perhaps the biggest affiliate Jay-Z has ever had is Barack Obama.

In 2008, Jay-Z got out on the stump for Barack Obama, saying “fuck John McCain” and registering fans to vote at his concerts. Jay-Z celebrated with the Obamas at the first inauguration and campaigned for him again. But, it turns out the two term president was not aware of Jay-Z’s trip to Cuba.

Jay-Z’s trip to Cuba led to his “Open Letter” single, where he bragged about having talked about the trip with President Obama. The same day, the White House press secretary spoke out and said they had no involvement in Jay-Z’s trip. This morning, President Obama talked to “The Today Show” and he talked about Jay-Z’s trip to Cuba.
