There is a certain sort of energy that surrounds J. Cole and he has proven time and time again, he just makes hits. Delivering hits on the heels of each other and one of the best albums of 2011, J. Cole had to come back strong. Having success with Miguel on their 2010 hit, “All I Want is You,” J. Cole decided to double up.
“Power Trip” came out in the height of the winter and looks to be a summer anthem. An interpretation of an age-old story, J. Cole details the relations between males and females. Mixing his rapping with his harmonious hook, J. Cole details his crush the way no other rapper has before.
One of the best instrumentals out, J. Cole had to come hard when the video came. As he told MTV, only he and Miguel understood the concept for the song and the video. It came out impressively, needless to say, which is why Hip Hop Vibe chose J. Cole’s new single as the Video of the Week.
