Once he finally released his debut album, J. Cole wanted to hit the ground running and drop a new album every year. Given how long it took his first album to come, few expected a 2012 J. Cole album. But, as Jay-Z’s protege, J. Cole looked to truly be the heir apparent and drop a new album every year.

From the looks of things, J. Cole may avoid the sophomore jinx with his upcoming second album. Born Sinner was announced late last year and the “Power Trip” single with Miguel is doing exceptionally well. Now, J. Cole only has to keep the momentum going long enough for his album to come out.

Born Sinner is one of the most-anticipated albums of the year. Last year, J. Cole’s wave ended abruptly when Wale released his sophomore album, Ambition. Now, J. Cole and Wale will truly battle it out, according to his recent tweet. Going head to head against each other, both albums are due June 25.
