Rick Ross put other rapper/label executives to shame when he began expanding the roster of Maybach Music. Since 2008, Rick Ross had the label, but he did not place much emphasis on the label, aside from the Triple Cs album. But, in 2011, Rick Ross would sign both Wale and Meek Mill to the label.

While they headlined the deal, Rick Ross also signed Atlanta’s DJ Scream. Before he joined with Maybach Music, DJ Scream worked closely with Shawty Lo. During the summer of 2011, Shawty Lo signed a $10 million joint venture deal with G-Unit. Many felt the projects with Shawty Lo and DJ Scream ended because of this.
