Once the delays were over, J. Cole finally delivered his debut album. Coming into the game with Jay-Z in his corner, J. Cole promised to deliver as consistently as his Roc Nation boss did during his run. Instead, J. Cole found his sophomore album shelved from its originally-intended 2012 release into 2013.

J. Cole hit the ground running in 2013 and, along with A$AP Rocky and Joe Budden, announced his album for a January release date. In the end, A$AP Rocky ended up being the only rapper to drop an album in January. Instead, J. Cole held fans down with an EP while he will release Born Sinner in June.

Though he represents North Carolina, J. Cole has a home in New York City. Working on his sophomore album in the Big Apple, J. Cole talked to NY Mag. During his conversation with the city magazine, J. Cole talked about Tupac Shakur, his favorite rapper dead or alive and also Donald Trump, which he referred to as a clown.
