Much like Los Angeles and Chicago, Philadelphia’s hip hop scene has come back in full force. Outside of the ongoing war of words between Cassidy and Meek Mill, there are many rappers rising to the surface in Philadelphia. Tone Trump turned heads and soon signed with Young Jeezy’s Corporate Thugz. The signing of Tone Trump left Trel Mack arguably the biggest unsigned rapper in the City of Brotherly Love.

While Trel Mack may not have the backing of a major label, he does have his own company. Alongside Q the Question, Trel Mack is the head of SKE Records. Though the label is independent, it does not make moves like an independent label would. Last summer, Trel Mack contributed to the return of lyricism to hip hop with his Inspired by Greatness EP. Several months have passed and the EP is still making its rounds.

Recently, Trel Mack sat down with Block Starz TV and he discussed his EP. With a title as strong as Inspired by Greatness, Trel Mack was asked to elaborate on what greatness actually inspired him. Trel Mack talked about his inspiration, as well as the overall project, itself. Closing out the second month of 2013, things are definitely looking up for Trel Mack and the entire SKE brand and there is always something new to look out for.
