Two of the first two emcees to place notice back on the New York City hip hop scene were Nicki Minaj and French Montana. A self-admitted fan of Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj landed a collaboration with him in 2007. Staying on his mind, Lil Wayne would sign Nicki Minaj on the heels of Drake in 2009.
French Montana, on the other hand, has been close to several label situations, but made his name on the New York mixtape scene. Along with the rest of the Coke Boys, French soon became mixtape royalty. A bidding war began and French Montana chose the hometown Bad Boy Records over Rick Ross’ Maybach Music.
Now, French Montana is three singles deep on an album three months away. “Freaks” is the third single off Excuse My French and it features Nicki Minaj. With the song picking up steam, French Montana is preparing the music video. Last night, several photos from the video shoot were leaked.
