Two years ago, Big Sean finally got off the G.O.O.D. Music bench and he became a breakout artist in 2011. “My Last” hit radio in January 2011 and went on to become one of the biggest hits of the summer. Big Sean showed the world what he could do and he has not looked back. Currently, he is working on his sophomore album, Hall of Fame.

But, for his previous efforts, Big Sean is up for two awards at the 55th Annual Grammy Awards. The awards Big Sean is up for are ‘Best Rap Song’ and ‘Best Rap Performance,’ alongside Pusha T, 2 Chainz, and Kanye West for “Mercy.” Big Sean being up for a Grammy is a far cry from his humble beginnings in Detroit.

Hip Hop Wired sat down with Big Sean earlier today and his upcoming appearances at the 55th Annual Grammy Awards were the topic of discussion. Big Sean spoke on how he felt when he first realized he had been nominated for a Grammy. The G.O.O.D. Music rapper went on to speak on his mother’s reaction to his nomination.
