Early in 2013 are placing their bets behind Joey Bada$$ as the next major New York City artist to emerge. Late last year, Joey Bada$$ released his mixtape, The aPROcapylse, which came days before Capital STEEZ died. With his death being an apparent suicide, Joey Bada$$ carries a heavy heart as he rises to fame.
Yesterday, Joey Bada$$ stopped by Shade 45, where he spoke to Sway Calloway for “Sway in the Morning.” During their discussion, Joey Bada$$ talked about a number of topics. In the clip released yesterday, Joey Bada$$ talked about some of the upcoming projects he has in the works.
But, things were a bit more somber in the second clip. Sway Calloway asked Joey Bada$$ about how the death of Capital STEEZ has impacted him. Lightening the mood, Joey Bada$$ was then asked about his girlfriend, admitting his girlfriend was his “sunflower.” Sway Calloway went on to reveal his relationship status and admitted there was a bit of “sunshine” in his life, perhaps a nod to the 1997 Jay-Z single.
