With “Fuckin’ Problem,” A$AP Rocky proved he could create a hit record. Boasting appearances from 2 Chainz, Drake, and Kendrick Lamar, A$AP Rocky has created an anthem. However, Game delivered a hit single with “Celebration” that followed a similar format, featuring Chris Brown, Tyga, Lil Wayne, and Wiz Khalifa, with low album sales.
Proving he could make hits, A$AP Rocky now has to prove he can sell records. Even as the new superstar in the rap game, selling records is something that longtime stars are having trouble doing. But, given the energy surrounding A$AP Rocky, it looks as if he fares a better chance.
Hits Daily Double calculated the projected sales for A$AP Rocky and they have predicted a strong showing for the Harlem rapper. In his first week, A$AP Rocky is projected to sell between 130 and 140,000 copies. Much of this is due to the success of the “Fuckin’ Problem” single.
