Mariah Carey talks Nicki Minaj and “American Idol” on ABC’s “Nightline” [VIDEO]

During the late summer of 2012, rumors began circulating about Nicki Minaj potentially joining the cast of FOX’s “American Idol.” Following the 2010 departure of Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul to form rival music contest show, “The X-Factor,” “American Idol” struggled to gain ratings. But, with Nicki Minaj joining Mariah Carey, things looked up.

Urban music fans were excited to see Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey interacting. Nicki Minaj, initially, also looked forward to working with Mariah Carey. Ratings soon hit an increase, but not for the actual show. Behind the scenes, Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey were not getting along and one of their filmed arguments hit the internet.

Last night, Mariah Carey spoke with Barbara Walters for ABC’s “Nightline.” During the interview, the high-profile feud was discussed. Nicki Minaj previously spoke on the feud and said it was a thing of the past. But, Mariah Carey talked about the situation with “Nightline” and spoke on how she felt unsafe around Nicki Minaj on the “American Idol” set.
