During Los Angeles’ initial charge into mainstream hip hop, Cypress Hill were among the talents who emerged. After the official end of NWA, Los Angeles needed another hardcore group and Cypress Hill filled the void. Cypress Hill released much classic material over the following twenty four years.

Cypress Hill’s most-recent project came in the form of Cypress x Rusko, a joint EP with popular Dubstep producer, Rusko. Coming twenty four years after their debut album, the game has definitely changed since their debut. Kendrick Lamar, not Eazy-E, is the main draw in Los Angeles and Game, not Ice T, is the elder statesman.

Duck Down Visuals recently spoke with Cypress Hill. Some of the changes in the rap game were addressed. Cypress Hill would speak with Duck Down about the emergence of Kendrick Lamar. Slick Rick getting booed would also be addressed, along with the new laws surrounding marijuana.
