A lot of noise has been made over J. Cole, as he is the first North Carolina artist to become a mainstream rap star in some time. J. Cole was credited for being a lyrical artist able to appeal to the masses. His lyrical abilities earned him comparisons to the likes of Nas, transcending his title as a Southern rapper.

9th Wonder is often overlooked, however, but he is one of the most-consistent artists in the rap game, period. Since 2003, 9th Wonder has consistently released albums, delivering one per year, solo and collaborative. This year, 9th Wonder released two albums, The Solution with Buckshot and The Final Adventure yesterday with Murs.

One of the album’s standout tracks is “What I Gotta Say.” 9th Wonder decided to show the world how he produces, in addition to how he raps when he invited fans to the making of the song.
