This past year, it has become more and more evident that mixtapes have taken the place of albums. Rappers are having more success from their mixtapes than they are from their official releases. Without the input from the record labels, the rappers are able to speak freely.
For rappers without the luxury of being signed, mixtapes are quick ways to connect with the fans. The mixtape game helped to solidfy Drake, J. Cole, and Nicki Minaj, along with many others. Mixtapes have also done well for Chox-Mak, who is preparing his latest offering, Death by Design.
With a Black Friday release date targeted, Chox-Mak recently filmed a studio session for Hip Hop Vibe, discussing his new mixtape. During the interview, Chox-Mak also hinted at some bigger projects in the works.
