Among the rising producers in the game are Lil’ Lody, Lex Luger, Billionaire Boyscout, and of course Hit-Boy. Last summer, Hit-Boy gained fame and acclaim for his production on Jay-Z and Kanye West’s Watch the Throne. After producing the “Niggas in Paris” hit, Kanye West recruited him for his Cruel Summer album with G.O.O.D. Music.

In good graces with Kanye West, Hit-Boy was also used for DJ Khaled’s “I Wish You Would” single, also featuring Rick Ross. Hit-Boy has expanded out of simply producing, launching his rap career. During this past summer, Hit-Boy released his HITstory mixtape, which was another success.

MTV News recently spoke to Hit-Boy and he discussed Cruel Summer‘s leftover rap verses that went unused. Kanye West was very secretive about the album. Big Sean and Pusha T admitted they first heard the album right before the public. Hit-Boy was right there in the lab with Kanye for the bulk of the time though.
