On the last track of The Blueprint 3, Jay-Z has a song called “So Ambitious.” Pharrell produced and is featured on the track. The song details what motivated Jay-Z to become what he is today. When he was younger, Jay-Z began making steps toward becoming a rapper. But, when he shared this vision with his uncle, he said “beat it kid, he’s on the list.”

Ultimately, Jay-Z’s uncle would hear his tape and told him he would never be as good as LL Cool J, the biggest rapper at the moment. The negative words from his own uncle led Jay-Z to become all he would become to the rap game. In a dramatic form of irony, Jay-Z would eventually be promoted to the presidency of Def Jam and would be LL Cool J’s boss.

A lifelong dream of Jay-Z’s was for Brooklyn to have a professional basketball team. When he purchased a minority stake in the New Jersey Nets, Jay-Z made plans to move the team to Brooklyn. Nine years later, the team is home and Jay-Z has held a series of concerts in their home arena, Barclays Center. During his latest performance, Jay-Z took aim at his uncle who doubted him.
