Shyne goes at 50 Cent on “Fred Hampton”

In 2004, 50 Cent attempted to sign an imprisoned Shyne to G-Unit Records. Despite his efforts, Shyne ultimately turned 50 Cent down. Months later, Shyne would enlist Irv Gotti to provide production on his album. The song would feature Ashanti and Shyne offered support to Ja Rule, who was in the midst of a comeback.

While 2004 was a great year for G-Unit and the year 50 Cent closed the Vitamin Water deal, it did not go as expected in music. In 2003, 50 Cent appeared unstoppable, as Lloyd Banks and Young Buck became household names on his watch. At the same time, Ja Rule had all but disappeared during his initial run.

50 Cent would take his aggressions out on “Piggy Bank,” dissing Ja Rule, Fat Joe, Jadakiss, Nas, and Shyne on the song. Ultimately long-running feuds would emerge with 50 Cent and Fat Joe, Nas, and Shyne. Comparable to the Fat Joe feud, 50 Cent continues to contend with Shyne, who released his latest song, “Fred Hampton,” which is a diss record aimed at 50 Cent.
