Lil Wayne opens skate park in New Orleans

Close to two decades ago, Lil Wayne rose from the streets of New Orleans to hip hop stardom, alongside his Cash Money Records label-mates. While he will always represent New Orleans, Lil Wayne has primarily lived in Miami for close to a decade. Lil Wayne, along with many of the other biggest rappers in the game live in Miami.

Despite his antics in the media, Lil Wayne does keep his hometown close to his heart. Lil Wayne often gives back to his community. Wishing certain things were there for him as a child, Wayne is now providing for others. In recent years, Lil Wayne has shown an interest in skateboarding, revealing he has put it ahead of music.

Lil Wayne has taken this interest to new extremes, opening a seven day-a-week skate park for aspiring skaters. Once again, Lil Wayne is partnering with Mountain Dew. Unlike DEWeezy, this skate part, Trukstop Park, which is located in the 9th Ward, is also a venture with Glu Agency. In a statement released to the Associated Press, Lil Wayne said he wanted to help his community.
