On the heels of the Lasers release, Lupe Fiasco revealed he would soon return with another new album, Food & Liquor II. For well over a year, there has been a lot of chatter surrounding the sequel to Lupe Fiasco’s debut album. At the end of May, Lupe Fiasco revealed there was truth to the album and released a promotional single for the album, “Around My Way (Freedom Ain’t Free).”

“Around My Way” served as a good refresher for those who had forgotten about Lupe Fiasco. However, Lupe Fiasco was preparing to release the first official single from the album. It was a month later, but Lupe Fiasco released “Bitch Bad,” which serves as the first official single off Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album, Pt. 1. A brilliant play on the “bad bitch” phrase, Lupe Fiasco captured hip hop’s attention.

Lupe Fiasco is firmly back in the spotlight and has three popular singles, which have been picking up radio play. The days are winding down and Lupe Fiasco is preparing to release his fourth album, his second album in as many years. Times have drastically changed since the early 2011 release of Lasers and Lupe Fiasco is embracing those changes with open arms. He, and many more, feel hip hop needs his brand of music, which is why he intends to release something new every year.
