In recent years, rappers have stepped out of their comfort zone more than they previously have. Will Smith became a sitcom star in the 1990s, as did LL Cool J, and both eventually transitioned to movies. While many rappers have enjoyed film roles, few have taken on the role of producer.
Ice Cube has found tremendous success as a producer, but most rappers have stuck to music and acting. T.I. has found ways to expand past his music through his reality show and his Grand Hustle Records. Focused on his comeback, T.I. went on a signing spree this past winter and Trae Tha Truth was among the artists signed.
Trae Tha Truth has shown he is more than a rapper, as he has jumped into the world of animation. Instead of waiting on Cartoon Network or another network to pick up his pilot, Trae Tha Truth decided to put his show together online. The name of the series is “Trae.”
