A week ago, 2 Chainz officially made the jump from popular mixtape rapper to full-fledged rap star, as he released Based on a T.R.U. Story. Releasing the album on Def Jam, 2 Chainz was one of those rare artists to not suffer from an album delay. 2 Chainz proved he could translate his mixtape success over to the majors.
Over the past week, 2 Chainz has taken a bit of a backseat, as DJ Khaled enjoys the release of his latest album, Kiss the Ring. Several other veterans have new music, including Busta Rhymes, who released his free album, Year of the Dragon. However, the weekly reports are in for the albums released the previous week.
Used to breaking records, 2 Chainz debuted on top of Billboard, as Based on a T.R.U. Story finished its first week at number one. The album finished its first week with over 140,000 copies sold. On his first album out, 2 Chainz finished on top of the charts. The final count of the album sales will be released tomorrow.
