Last summer, Big Sean announced G.O.O.D. Music would follow in the footsteps of such labels as Young Money and Maybach Music with a compilation album. Though the Kanye West-led label has been around for years, the focus has been more on Kanye than the talent on the label. However, during the summer of 2011, Kanye West established a distribution deal with Def Jam.

With the entire G.O.O.D. roster under Def Jam, Kanye West decided to form the label into a crew. Rick Ross helped to make the crews popular in hip hop again, as he aligned all of his Maybach Music artists. The initial Maybach Music roster of artists were all members of the Triple Cs. Now, they are all a part of the Maybach Music crew, which is always expanding.

The same format has been applied to G.O.O.D. Music, as they complete Cruel Summer, which has served as a sounding board for Kanye West. Through the singles on the project, he has been able to profess his love for his popular leading lady, Kim Kardashian. On the first single, initially titled “Theraflu,” Kanye West revealed his feelings for her and they took their relationship public. The most recent leak from the album was entitled “Perfect Bitch,” which Kim Kardashian was flattered by, meanwhile Kris Jenner was angered by it.

Cruel Summer was initially set for a September 4 release and is now delayed until September 18.
