Since beginning his breakout run, 2 Chainz has worked closely with Kanye West. As was the case with other breakout artists, French Montana and Chief Keef, a bidding war ensued over 2 Chainz. In the end, he decided to sign with Def Jam, creating his own sub-label. Preparing to develop his own roster of talent, 2 Chainz continued to work closely with Kanye West.
Last year, Kanye West revamped G.O.O.D. Music, making it comparable to Young Money and the ever-popular Maybach Music. Initially, the label was an outlet for artists already signed to other labels, but Kanye West set up a distribution deal with G.O.O.D. Music. Many thought Kanye West was preparing to add 2 Chainz to a roster which already includes Pusha T and Big Sean.
2 Chainz briefly spoke on a deal, but has not confirmed signing anything. Still, he has worked closely with G.O.O.D. Music, collaborating with Kanye West’s DONDA firm. The two worked together on his album cover and the Complex cover. Recently, 2 Chainz caught up with VIBE and he spoke on his work with the firm on various artwork.
