Last year, Fred the Godson gained an incredible amount of popularity, as his music became increasingly popular. The Bronx emcee is among the many rappers helping return New York City to prominence. Many felt his City of God mixtape with DJ Drama should have been an album. During this period of time, Fred the Godson spoke on the situation.

When he was asked why he chose to drop another mixtape instead of releasing an album, Fred the Godson replied he held out on the album because he was not signed to a label. French Montana, another buzzing Bronx rapper, had also built much buzz. Many major labels were interested in signing French Montana, with Bad Boy Records eventually doing the honors.

For a brief period of time, it seemed as if Bad Boy Records would further re-establish themselves by adding Fred the Godson, also. Perhaps it was wishful thinking to begin with, but Fred the Godson now has a label behind him. One day after announcing Rich Boy joined their label, eOne Music has now revealed Fred the Godson is also on the roster.
