Kareem “Biggs” Burke sentenced to five years in prison

Close to a decade ago, Kareem “Biggs” Burke was primarily known as the silent third party involved in Roc-A-Fella Records. During the Roc-A-Fella days, Jay-Z was presented as the face of the label, while Damon Dash was shown as the businessman. While often mentioned by Jay-Z in lyrics, Kareem “Biggs” Burke stayed away from the camera.

Jay-Z bought both Kareem “Biggs” Burke and Damon Dash out of Roc-A-Fella Records, as he took over the head position at Def Jam. For the next four years, Jay-Z ran Roc-A-Fella Records until the formation of Roc Nation. Upon forming Roc Nation, Jay-Z left Roc-A-Fella behind and the remaining roster of artists also left the label.

In the years since Roc-A-Fella Records, Kareem “Biggs” Burke’s primary business has been the drug business, according to the evidence against him. Burke was arrested in October 2010 for his part in an East Coast drug ring. Yesterday, he was officially sentenced to five years behind bars for his role in the drug ring.
