Perhaps even worse than being murdered at the peak of his career, leaving behind two small children, was The Notorious B.I.G. dying two months before his birthday. Not quite 25 years of age, The Notorious B.I.G. was left only a memory. Every year in March, the hip hop community celebrates the life and career of The Notorious B.I.G.
However, what is often overlooked is his birthday, which usually passes with simply a mention, but today B.I.G. would be 40 years old. The things The Notorious B.I.G. did in front of the camera and behind the microphone will never be forgotten. However, those close to him miss more than never hearing an authentic new song, they miss the person.
Fifteen birthdays have passed for The Notorious B.I.G., or Christopher Wallace, rather, yet he remains frozen in time as 24 going on 25. While the hip hop world does not place much emphasis on this day, today is the day the friends and family hold near and dear to their hearts. Gone, but not forgotten, those close to The Notorious B.I.G. should celebrate the forty years that have passed since he entered the world.
