Finally back to releasing new music, Mystikal has been one of the most-discussed rappers in the early months of 2012. Given the run Cash Money Records has been on, it came as no surprise they were the ones to sign Mystikal. The signing was historic for New Orleans hip hop, as Mystikal became the first artist to be signed to both Cash Money and No Limit Records.

Mystikal found success as a gold-selling rapper on No Limit Records, but eventually left the tank and became a platinum rapper. By 2002, Mystikal was one of the top rappers in the South. However, reaching the peak of his career was when it all fell apart for Mystikal, as he was sent to prison for battery. Sentenced in 2004, Mystikal would spend six years in prison.

However, Mystikal returned to the rap game, following two years of rebuilding his personal life, and is back like he never left. Mystikal exhibits chemistry with his Cash Money label-mates and the hip hop world was eagerly waiting on his official takeover during the summer of 2012. The New Orleans rapper was preparing to release his Original album, his first in eleven years, during the summer. But, a probation violation is keeping Mystikal from releasing his album during the summer and he will spend three months in prison.

Yesterday, Mystikal began this three month sentence and he discussed his return to prison before heading off.
