Meek Mill added to Roc Nation’s management roster

The hottest record label in the game is Maybach Music, but one of the top management companies is Roc Nation. Jay-Z left Def Jam in 2008 and established Roc Nation as both a record label and management company. The record label houses J. Cole and Willow Smith, while the management company is behind Kanye West, Rihanna, Ne-Yo, Wale, and others.

When Wale signed with Maybach Music, his departure from Interscope Records was highly-publicized. Previously, Wale had been signed with Interscope, but his 2009 debut album was not properly promoted, thus leading to low sales. Roc Nation faciliated Wale’s move from Interscope Records to Maybach Music.

Thus far, Meek Mill has become highly popular, while still being on the mixtape level. Over the past few months, he has been more discussed than Wale. However, this summer, Meek Mill will release his debut album, officially making him a major label artist. Making such a big step in his career, Meek Mill has joined Roc Nation for management.

Meek Mill said he and his manager are both learning the game as they go along, so they partnered with Roc Nation to take things to “another level.”
