Early last year, Rick Ross announced he was preparing to release his fifth studio album, God Forgives, I Don’t. Rick Ross said the album would be the biggest project of his career and would finally place him on top of the rap game. Before the release of his album, Rick Ross assembled an all-star roster for his Maybach Music label and did several collaborations.

Rick Ross was among the most-featured rappers in the game, appearing on several hit singles, and experienced success from his mixtape singles. With all the focus on his guest appearances, many forgot about God Forgives, I Don’t. However, Drake and DJ Khaled claimed to have heard the album and called it a classic.

During the fall of 2011, Rick Ross announced the album would come on December 13, right before Christmas. However, Rick Ross had two seizures right before the release of the album, pushing everything back to 2012. Opening the year with Rich Forever, an album released as a mixtape, again the focus was off God Forgives, I Don’t until the MMG press conference.

With a July release date now slated, Rick Ross spoke with MTV News about the album, calling it dark and next level.
