A bigger surprise than adding Wale to Maybach Music, fans were shocked when “conscious rapper,” Stalley signed with Maybach Music. The label has taken pride in being a band of misfits. MMG as the label is fondly called took Wale, who had been under-utilized, and turned him into one of the biggest stars in the game. The label also gave Meek Mill the proper attention, turning him into a star.

Comparable to the Miami Heat, when they are at their peaks, Maybach Music has a “big three” as well, Rick Ross, Wale, and Meek Mill. However, they have a deep roster of talent and the fourth man, in terms of popularity, is easily Stalley. For months, he has had fans on the edge of their seats, as they have waited on his new mixtape Savage Journey of the American Dream.

Stalley finally released Savage Journey, following months of anticipation and discussed the new project with XXL. During his discussion with XXL, Stalley said he dreamed he could make as much off his music, when he first started recording, than he did from his regular job, Alife. Explaining his mixtape title, Stalley said it was his American dream to be able to live off rap. The fact he wanted it so badly is what led to the “savage” part of the title. Going back into this hunger led to the body of work Stalley delivered last week.

Because of Stalley’s status as a “conscious” rapper, many were surprised when he signed with Maybach Music. In response to this, Stalley said he is just a man and if he says something intelligent, it is what he is going through at the time. Like any other human being, the Ohio MMG representer said he goes through many emotions, so there are many sides of Stalley.
