Hip hop stars continue to emerge, as Azealia Banks has become one of the most-discussed new artists of 2012. Banks first experienced success after her “212” music video became highly-popular on the internet. Quickly, the world learned there was much more to Azealia Banks, aside from her debut video.

Azealia Banks has proven she is far from a pushover, as she called out Iggy Azalea over the similarities in their names. Banks claims Iggy adapted her name and used it in her own stage name. Since late last year, Iggy Azalea has been making a name for herself, due to her affiliation with T.I.

However, GQ was focused on learning more about Azaelia Banks, as she was featured in their April 2012 “Style Bible” issue. During her interview with GQ, Banks discussed how she is adjusting to fame.

Read excerpts of Azealia Banks’ interview with GQ below:

Azealia Banks on the attention she and her music have received: “I definitely have more money and shit, but that’s all virtual stuff. I’ve been making music for a while. And I could read about myself on the Internet for a while.”

…on meeting Kanye West and other celebrity fans: “It’s cool, but they’re just people. The skies don’t part and glow orange.”

…on who she looks to for inspiration: “Everyone. …Azealia Banks.”
