Respect the Hustle: Silent B Entertainment

For those who thought Cash Money Records was all the Louisiana hip hop scene had to offer, think again. No one could have predicted the dominance Louisiana would inflict on the hip hop game, but Louisiana, through the success of Lil Wayne, is dominating the hip hop scene. But, there are more crews emerging, one from the Shreveport area.

When many think of Southern hip hop, they do not think of mind-blowing lyricism, but things are rapidly evolving. Branden Brown, while not often in the spotlight, has proven to be a great judge of talent, signing many game-changing artists to Silent B Entertainment. Brown, who runs the label out of Louisiana, boasts a roster of talent from Texas, Louisiana, and North Carolina. None of the Silent B Entertainment artists would fall into the typical category of “Southern rapper,” as they all have unique styles.

Silent B Entertainment has built a strong following, working with DJ Tay Don’t Play, fellow Louisiana product, Propane (The Savage Prince of Boss City), and many others. Their willingness to work with outside companies have led to Silent B gaining radio play in Texas and North Carolina, along with building substantial buzz outside of their native states of Texas and Louisiana. Completely independent, Silent B Entertainment is making moves much like some major labels.
