Until last year, 50 Cent was known for releasing a new album every other year. This trend was set to continue in 2011, however, 50 Cent’s feud with Interscope Records reached unexpected heights and no album came. Instead, 50 Cent promoted his free release, The Big 10, as a new album.

50 Cent went on to say he would continue doing these releases and would not support anything Interscope releases by him. Later, 50 Cent had a change of heart and said he started working on his album again. Still, the album has been a mystery, as it has no title and has been discussed since late 2009.

Recently, 50 Cent, who has returned to Twitter, discussed his new album, saying he wanted to release it around the date of his birthday, which is July 6. After mentioning several early July dates, 50 Cent settled upon a July 2 release date. His album will come weeks before the highly-anticipated release from French Montana, Excuse My French, making the summer of 2012 a good, overall, period for New York hip hop.
