There were some who noticed a change in The Notorious B.I.G. over the course of his short career. With a three-year gap between his first and second album, Biggie worked with a different set of producers and spoke more of being rich. During the recording of his debut, Ready to Die, B.I.G. was poor, but the album turned him into a millionaire.

Before the money and the fame, The Notorious B.I.G. kept Lil’ Cease by his side. When he became rich, Lil’ Cease continued to ride with him. Usuaully, when a person becomes rich and famous, the way B.I.G. did, they end up leaving their initial supporters behind. But, this was not the case with Lil’ Cease.

Yesterday was the fifteenth anniversary of the death of The Notorious B.I.G. The rap game has changed, not even recognizable compared to the rap gae of 1997. Lil’ Cease, who was poised to become a star when Biggie was alive, has remained a background figure in the rap game. But, every March, he makes an annual appearance in the headlines, as he is asked questions about The Notorious B.I.G., which is the center of hip hop media.

Last night, Lil’ Cease spoke with Hot 97 about The Notorious B.I.G., particularly his legacy. Lil’ Cease said he still misses his friend and he is grateful for the opportunity he gave him. His affiliation with Biggie has kept him relevant over fifteen years. After all of these years, it is still hard for Lil’ Cease to think about the death of B.I.G. However, Lil’ Cease said he does find comfort in seeing how well his family is doing, with his children growing up.

Lil’ Cease said the phrase “time heals all wounds” is not applicable to The Notorious B.I.G. He praised radio stations and the hip hop fans on social networking sites for keeping his legacy alive. After all, fifteen years have passed since The Notorious B.I.G. died and he is still a headlining topic, much more relevant than some rappers, who have recently released “hit” singles.
