Nas may join Common and Q-Tip’s The Standard supergroup

Nas may join Common and Q-Tip’s supergroup The Standard

Last year, hip hop fans received their longtime wish, when Nas and Common shared the mic. Their collaboration, “Ghetto Dreams,” was one of the first hits during the summer of 2011. For years, both rappers have served as the conscious for hip hop. Because of this, many alternative hip hop fans have tuned in to them, as opposed to the more mainstream artists.

Another rapper with a cult following is Q-Tip. Throughout the 1990s, Q-Tip dominated, as both a solo artist and as a member of A Tribe Called Quest. Q-Tip has continued to release new music over the years, but has not been as popular as he once was. However, Q-Tip was in the headlines throughout 2011, due to his feud with cousin, Consequence.

In 2012, Q-Tip has enjoyed media attention, on a more positive note. The New York emcee decided to join forces with Common to form a new supergroup. Common and Q-Tip have come together to form The Standard. Both rappers have expressed interest in adding another legendary emcee to the group and Nas has expressed interest.
