One of the architects of the current hip hop landscape is DJ Khaled, as he helped a lot of the current stars become the stars they are. In 2006, DJ Khaled released his debut album, Listennn, with Terror Squad and featured tracks from Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, Plies, and Young Jeezy. Each of these rappers enjoyed nice runs at the top of the rap game.
Currently, Rick Ross and Lil Wayne are still enjoying strong runs at the top, meanwhile Young Jeezy enjoyed a successful comeback in 2011. DJ Khaled made stars out of many rappers who have gone on to generate millions of dollars for other record labels. Def Jam noticed the good job DJ Khaled was doing, so they gave him an executive role with the company and his own record label.
The label DJ Khaled was granted became We The Best Music Group and Ace Hood was named the franchise player of the team. Over the past four years, Ace Hood has struggled to gain mainstream success. While he has had a few hit singles, Ace Hood has yet to break through the way Rick Ross and Lil Wayne have. He plans to correct this on his next studio album, which will follow the Starvation mixtape.
