Perhaps a power move from Rick Ross, Atlanta’s Pill was added to the MMG roster on the heels of Rick Ross signing Wale and Meek Mill. At the time, it seemed as if Pill was hand-picked by Rick Ross. Nearly one year later, it was revealed Warner Bros. Records offered Pill to Rick Ross, allowing him to be a member of Maybach Music for a year. While representing for MMG, Pill was only signed to Warner Bros.

Initially, Pill had just as much buzz, if not more, than Wale and Meek Mill. However, following the release of Self Made, Vol. 1, Wale and Meek Mill became household names, while Pill was forgotten. In December 2011, Pill resurfaced with the announcement of his new mixtape, The Epidemic. With several MMG mixtapes being released during this period of time, many felt it was odd for Pill to not use the MMG lettering.

Following the release of The Epidemic‘s cover, rumors began swirling about Pill being dropped by Maybach Music. Days after the rumors began, Pill made a shocking revelation, he was never signed with Maybach Music Group to begin with. Instead, he was allowed to run with the Maybach Music team, while being signed directly to Warner Bros. Records. Pill spoke candidly about the situation, thanking Rick Ross for the opportunity, yet expressing frustration in his true label, Warner Bros.

Despite the number of hit records and big-name collaborations he brought to the table, Warner Bros. refused to push his project. From the way he sounded, Pill left Warner Bros. following his year representing Maybach Music. Last week, Pill released The Epidemic, which has proven popular with his core fans. Taking matters into his own hands, Pill announced, via Twitter, he would be heading to Toronto on March 2, 2012, then posting “#TheEpidemic Tour.”
