Noticably absent from the 54th Annual Grammy Awards were Jay-Z and Beyonce. For weeks, they have dominated the headlines. Following years of rumors, Beyonce revealed her pregnancy at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards. Last month, the famous couple celebrated the birth of their daughter, Blue Ivy Carter.
Over the weekend, Jay-Z and Beyonce released the first pictures of Blue Ivy. However, these photos would be overshadowed by the death of Whitney Houston. In what feels like a month, the past two days have been filled with stories regarding the death of the renowned songstress. The publicity surrounding Whitney Houston carried over into last night’s Grammy Awards, allowing Jay-Z and Beyonce to slip away.
Regardless of what is going on, Jay-Z and Beyonce can not simply “slip away.” Beyonce has released several hit singles over the past few months and Jay-Z enjoyed a top-selling album with Watch the Throne. The album won several awards and neither Jay-Z or Kanye West were there to accept them. With no one from the Roc attending the Grammy Awards, questions immediately began about where everyone was. Kanye West has yet to disclose his location.
Jay-Z and Beyonce, on the other hand, spent time in Brooklyn, the hometown of Jay-Z. The super-couple spent some quality time together at their favorite pizza shop, Lucali. It seems as if Jay-Z and Beyonce decided to have some couple time in celebration of Valentine’s Day, which is tomorrow.
