Last year, Don Trip made a name for himself with his single, “Letter to My Son.” After gaining the attention of the hip hop world, Don Trip continued to release new tracks for the public. As his name has continued to grow, the world has learned Don Trip has a connection with one of hip hop’s biggest figures. During the early to mid 1990s, The Notorious B.I.G. was indeed one of the biggest rappers on the planet. However, following a high-profile feud with several hip hop artists, he was brutally murdered in Los Angeles.

In the time since The Notorious B.I.G. died, there have been several hip hop artists to emerge, influenced by his legacy. Memphis rapper, Don Trip, told XXL he was more of a Tupac fan growing up, but he shares the same birth name as Biggie, Christopher Wallace. When asked how he discovered he and B.I.G. had the same name, Don Trip said he discovered this fact when his death was announced. Don Trip, who was eleven years old at the time, ran to the television when he heard the name.

Despite being more influenced by Tupac Shakur, Don Trip did credit The Notorious B.I.G. for helping to increase the lyrics in the rap game. Don Trip feels rappers use punchlines more now than they did before B.I.G. entered the game. While he has not publicly announced his real name to the public, Don Trip said he is not ashamed of his name and will not hide from it. The craziest experience Don Trip has had since being in the rap game is being mistaken for Biggie’s son when he is headed to the airport out of town.
