To longtime hip hop heads, it seems like yesterday when LL Cool J emerged on the scene, but Mr. Smith has been in the game for nearly thirty years. Unlike most rappers, LL Cool J was able to achieve mainstream success, even with numerous feuds. LL Cool J transitioned from starring in music videos to starring in sitcoms. In 2008, LL Cool J accepted the lead role in “NCIS: LA” and has become a fan-favorite over the past three and a half years.

Already one of the faces of CBS, LL Cool J received great news when he learned he would be hosting the 54th Grammy Awards. The last time the Grammys had an official host was in 2005, since then the ceremony has gone on without a proper host. It was a major accomplishment for LL Cool J to be called upon to host the award show after the ceremony went without a host for the better part of a decade. The accomplishment is one the entire hip hop community can take pride in.

LL Cool J recently discussed how he felt about hosting the Grammys this year.

Read LL Cool J’s comments below:

“I’m thrilled to be part of Music’s Biggest Night. I will always have fond memories of my first Grammys Awards and to now be hosting the Grammy show, in the company of so many other incredible artists, is a dream come true.”
