Early last month, Heavy D shocked the world when he died. Heavy D had been out of the spotlight for some time until he performed at the 2011 BET Hip Hop Awards. Fans of the golden era of hip hop were hoping to hear more from Heavy D as 2011 came to a close. Those fans got their wish, but it came with the ultimate price when the legendary rapper died.
November 2011 became a month of tribute to Heavy D, who opened doors for many artists and executives in the hip hop game. Heavy D helped Diddy gain his footing in the game, which opened doors for several artists and executives. Because of this, and other acts of kindness, Heavy D was loved and missed by many.
While reports led many to believe Heavy D had a heart attack, which led to his death. However, now reports from TMZ state Heavy D died from a pulmonary embolism caused by deep leg vein thrombosis. The day before, Heavy D flew from Europe back to his Los Angeles home, which could have also been a factor in his untimely death.
